Overview

Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of productivity tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and more. It is used by both employees and students at Pima Community College for creating documents, communicating, managing data, and collaborating. Office 365 includes desktop and web-based versions of the software.

Requirements

A license is required to access Office products. Licenses are automatically applied to users based on their role and status.

  • Students are provided with two types of licenses.
    • A1 for Active but unenrolled, this grants access to the web version only.
    • A3 for Active and enrolled, this grants full access.
  • Staff are provided with an A3 license.

Installation

  1. For College-Owned Devices
    • Microsoft Office 365 is deployed and automatically installed through the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub. If the application does not automatically install, follow the steps below:
      1. Open the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub on the device.
      2. Click your name in the bottom left of the app, then click Sync Device to update the app catalog.
      3. Click on the Apps tab, select All Apps, and check if M365 Office is listed.
      4. If the app still does not appear, submit a Report a Software Problem ticket.
  2. For Personal Devices

Troubleshooting

  • Problem: The Microsoft Office 365 app displays an Incorrect Username or Password message.
    • Solution:
      • Ensure the correct login format (@pima.edu for employees, @mail.pima.edu for students) is used.
      • Passwords must be changed through MyPima, not via the “reset it now” link.
      • Students must be actively enrolled in the current semester.
      • If the password was recently changed, wait 30–60 minutes for synchronization.
  • Problem: Microsoft Office 365 Is Out of Date (Personal Devices Only)
    • Solution:
      • Open any Office app.
      • Select "File", then "Account".
      • Under the “Office Updates” section, confirm automatic updates are enabled.

Access Information

  • Go to https://www.office.com.
  • Log in using your Pima email address (either @pima.edu or @mail.pima.edu) and your MyPima password.
  • Multi-factor authentication will be required to access your account.
