Introduction
When you request service for a phone or Internet connection, you may need to provide the jack number on the wall plate. This guide will help you locate your Wall Jack ID or Jack Number, which is typically printed on a label attached to the wall plate itself.
Instructions
Understanding the Terms
- Wall Jack ID or Jack Number: These terms refer to the identification label found on the wall outlet where your network cable connects. Other common names include port number, network ID, network label, and wall port ID.
- Wall Plate: This is the plate on the wall where your Internet or phone cable is plugged in.
Step 1: Identify the Wall Plate
To locate your Wall Plate, follow the network cable from the back of your Cisco phone, docking station, or computer to the jack on the wall.
Below is what a typical network jack with a connected network cable looks like.
If any furniture is blocking your access to the network port, please contact the Facilities Help Desk at 520-206-2733 and request a furniture move.
Step 2: Inspect the Wall Plate
On the wall plate where the network cable is connected, look for a label. The label will usually be at the top or bottom of the faceplate where your connection is coming from.
In the image above, the IDs would be 3A-A015 for the top left port and 3A-A016 for the top right port.
Step 3: Record the Wall Jack ID
- Look for a sequence of numbers and/or letters on the label. This sequence is your Wall Jack ID.
- Write down the Wall Jack ID or take a picture of it for reference and ensure to include the room where its located.
