Mentimeter College Use

Mentimeter is a unique cloud-based software platform you can use to create interactive presentations. Polling and response gathering can be added for live audience interaction.

The college has a limited number of licenses. To request use of one of the licenses, enter an IT Service Request ticket.

Note: Surveys in Mentimeter are for strictly theoretical and academic-based usage and must not ask for information that is regulated or personal, such as full name, ID numbers, zip code, and so forth.
And remember your presentations should include ADA-mandated accommodations for people with special accessibility needs.

Using Mentimeter

The following is adapted from a Mentimeter help page.

1. To get started with Mentimeter, visit Mentimeter.com and click Sign Up. We recommend that you use the Sign up with Google option and then enter your Pima credentials.
2. After a few questions to refine your profile (or you can click Skip in the upper-right corner), you might see a screen similar to the one shown below. You might also arrive directly at a presentation editing page. In that case, skip to step 4 below.

3. On your Dashboard, click +New presentation, which opens a page to the edit view, where you can start to add slides.

4. In the upper left, you can click on My New Presentation if you want to rename it.
5. Add a slide to your presentation by clicking +New slide and then, on the right side of the page, click Select type. A pop-up opens.
6. From the pop-up, which looks similar to the screen shown here, pick a slide type. And don't worry, you can change to a different slide type later.

7. Edit the slide with the fields under Content on the right side of the window. Your changes are reflected in the large central slide display, as shown here.

To interact with your audience using Mentimeter, you can fill your presentation with questions and content slides. You can also add a fun Quiz competition to your presentation or use the Q&A slide type to let the audience ask questions. One of the paid subscriptions is required if you want to import an existing presentation to Mentimeter.

Start your presentation

When you are happy with your presentation, you can start presenting by clicking Present in the upper right corner.

As Mentimeter adds more features, its interface evolves, so your experience may not look exactly like what's described here, but you can always learn more about the product from the Mentimeter website.
