Adobe Apps for Students: Creative Cloud Access

Overview

Pima Community College provides two levels of Adobe software access to students based on course enrollment and academic requirements

Tier 1: Universal Student Access (All Currently Enrolled Students)

  • Eligibility: Access automatically granted to all active PCC students upon enrollment—completely free.
  • Included Applications: Adobe Acrobat Pro (including Acrobat AI Assistant), and Adobe Express (including a subset of Photoshop editing tools).
  • Account Display: Available apps appear at the top of the screen when students are logged into express.adobe.com

Tier 2: Full Creative Cloud Suite (Course-Specific Access)

  • Eligibility: Access granted to students taking specific classes that require advanced creative software (e.g., Digital Media, Graphic Design, Photography, Art, or Video Production).
  • Included Applications: Complete suite of 20+ desktop and web applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition, among others.
  • Duration: Access remains active for the duration of the student’s enrolled course or term.

Device Deployment & Installation Limits

  • Personal or Home Devices: Eligible students with Full Creative Cloud access may install the software on one personal or home device (PC or Mac).
  • Campus Devices: All students can log in to access licensed Adobe software on any Pima-owned lab computer or campus device.
  • License Duration: Software permissions automatically refresh or expire at the conclusion of each academic course.

Accessing and Installing Adobe Apps

Step 1: Access the Adobe Portal

  • Open a web browser and navigate to express.adobe.com [External Link].
  • Click the Sign In button in the top-right corner of the page.

Step 2: Enter Student Account Credentials

  • In the email address field, enter your official Pima student email address: username@mail.pima.edu, and then click Continue.
  • When prompted to select an account type, select Company or School Account.
Do NOT select “Personal Account,” as this will prevent access to your PCC enterprise license.

Step 3: Authenticate via Pima Single Sign-On (SSO)

  • You will be automatically redirected to Pima Community College’s secure login page.
  • Enter your standard MyPima username and password.
  • Complete any required Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompts.

Step 4: Access and Download Applications

For Baseline Access (Acrobat Pro & Adobe Express):

  • Adobe Express: Select Adobe Express from your app list to open the browser-based studio directly—no installation needed.
  • Acrobat Pro: Click Install or Download next to Adobe Acrobat to save and run the desktop installer.

For Full Creative Cloud Access (Course-Eligible Students):

  • From the portal home, click Download Creative Cloud to install the central Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.
  • Once installed, launch the Creative Cloud Desktop App on your computer.
  • If prompted to log in within the desktop app, re-enter your @mail.pima.edu email and select Company or School Account.
  • Select the Apps tab, locate your required software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), and click Install.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

  • Issue: Prompted for Payment or “Start 7-Day Trial”
    • Cause: Signed in under a personal profile or personal Adobe account rather than the Pima Enterprise site license.
    • Solution: Sign out of Adobe. Sign back in using your full @mail.pima.edu email address, and explicitly select Company or School Account.
  • Issue: Full Creative Cloud Apps Missing (Only Acrobat & Express Visible)
    • Cause: The student is not currently enrolled in a designated class that grants Tier 2 Full Creative Cloud permissions.
    • Solution: Check course registration status. If registered in an eligible creative course, contact the course instructor or Pima IT Helpdesk to verify license assignment.
  • Issue: Software Download Blocked on Campus Computers
    • Cause: Administrative rights are restricted on college-owned hardware.
    • Solution: On PCC campus computers, access software through local installation tools (Software Center on Windows or Self Service on Mac) rather than web browser downloads.
