How to fix a slow VM
If your virtual machine is running too slow, try these steps to increase the working memory of
the system:
- Select VM > Settings > Systems > Base Memory > Set to 2GB.
- Test the VM
- Running faster
- Not running faster
- Increase the RAM by an increment of 1 and repeat step 2.
- If the issue persists after multiple memory increases, proceed to submitting the request.
How to fix “No Desktop Sources Available”/ “No available Desktops” errors
If you see this error upon accessing your VM desktop, attempt to clear cache and cookies and start a new session on your web browser. If the issue persists, there is an issue with the VM pool in the backend, which must be addressed by our data center specialists. Proceed to submit the request, include as much information as possible in the request body.
How to fix error code E_FAIL (0x8000405)
This is an error in the configuration of the virtual machine. To remediate this:
- Go into the Pfsense VM > snapshots > init config > recover.
- Test the VM and make sure that it works.
- If these steps do not resolve the error code, please proceed with the request, include as much relevant information as you can.
How to fix “Not entitled to use system”
This is an error message that can appear when the system registers that a student does not have rights to use the software they are requesting.
- If you are using VMWare Horizon for CIS 120 or CIS 104, you should have and use the Microsoft Office machine on your screen.
- If it does not show, proceed with submitting the request specifying the error and including as much relevant information as possible.
