This article will show you how to find your computer's IP address on both Windows 11 and macOS. Knowing your IP address is sometimes necessary for troubleshooting network issues or for specific software configurations.

Instructions

Windows 11

  1. On the Desktop, click the Windows Start  icon.
  2. Open device settings by clicking on the Settings  icon.
  3. In the settings menu, click the Network & Internet tab.
  4. On the Network & Internet page, click the Advanced Network Settings tab.
  5. In the Advanced Network Settings, click the Hardware and Connection Properties tab.
  6. Under the Hardware and Connection Properties section, locate the Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi connection, and the IP Address is listed next to IPv4 Address.

 

macOS

  1. From the Desktop, click on the System Preferences gear icon.
  2. In System Preferences, click on the Network icon.
  3. On the Ethernet or Wifi tab of the Network settings, the IPv4 Address is listed below the Status section.
  4. If the IP address does not appear, click Details... and the IP address should appear in a new window.
