Introduction

This document provides a step-by-step guide for Pima Community College students on how to log in to Penji for the first time, schedule virtual tutoring appointments, and attend those sessions. It also includes information on how to view in-person tutoring schedules.

Instructions

Part 1: Logging in for the First Time and Account Setup

  1. Follow the link named Schedule a Virtual Appointment Today here or from the pima.edu/tutoring website.
  2. Once prompted, enter your MyPima login information (Username and Password) and click Login.
  3. Click Create Account.
  4. Your Pima email may autofill. If not, enter your full PCC email ending in @mail.pima.edu. Check the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy after viewing, and then click Next.
  5. Click on Learn and then click Next.
  6. Once the page loads, you will see the Learning Center landing page. Ensure Students is highlighted in blue.

Part 2: Scheduling a Virtual Tutoring Appointment

  1. From the Learning Center landing page, click on either Schedule a 20m virtual appointment OR Schedule a 50m virtual appointment.
  2. Your list of enrolled classes may appear. If not, click Join a course to add the course(s) you are taking and would like tutoring help with. Begin typing the course name (e.g., WRT101 or Writing). You may also choose to seek tutoring for General Writing Help or General Computer Help.
  3. Click the course name to select. After you enter the course name once, it will remain on your list for future scheduling.
  4. Click Next to view available times with our tutors. [Image 8]
    • Blue outlined times are available to schedule.
    • Gray stripes mean all tutors are booked, or the time has passed.
  5. Click on an available time box to schedule.
    • You may change the start time in the Edit box or click on a different time slot.
    • Appointment durations cannot be changed. Appointments can only be made on the half hour or hour (starting at 9 am or 9:30 am, for example).
  6. Click Select to proceed.
  7. The next page will show available tutors. Click on the name of your selected tutor.
  8. Click Select to book the appointment.
  9. Click on Google Meets-Online.
  10. Review appointment details in the Overview screen.
    • You may click the back arrow to change details or click the X to close out of the appointment scheduler.
  11. If all details are correct, click Complete.
  12. Click Create to finalize the appointment.

Back at the Learning Center landing page, you should see your appointment in the Upcoming section.

Part 3: Entering Your Virtual Tutoring Appointment

  1. When it’s time to enter your appointment, click on the appointment card from the Learning Center landing page in Penji.
    • Your tutor will enter the session at the start time. It is recommended to join your session at the appointed start time.
  2. The Session Details will open. Click on Open under the Location section.
  3. Google Meet will open in a new tab. If the session time has started, click Ask to Join.
    • If you are not granted entry into the session within the first 5 minutes of the appointment time, contact the Virtual Learning Center at 520-206-4959 or pcc-tutoring@pima.edu.
  4. Once your tutoring session is concluded, close the Google Meet tab.
  5. In the Penji window, you may click Submit Session Log to submit feedback that the Learning Center can view. This is OPTIONAL.
    • If you choose to submit, type your feedback in the box and click Done.
    • If you prefer not to submit feedback, simply leave the box blank and click Done.

Part 4: Viewing Campus Tutoring Schedules (In-Person)

  1. If you would like to view in-person tutoring schedules, click on View In-Person Tutoring Hours from the Learning Center landing page. 
    • All in-person tutoring is drop-in (no appointment needed and appointments are not available).
  2. Click Join a course to add the course(s) you are taking and would like tutoring help with.
    • Begin typing the course name (e.g., WRT101 or Writing).
    • Click the course name to select.
    • Once you enter the course once, it will remain on your list to quick select for future tutoring sessions.
  3. On the Available Locations page, all campuses and days/hours will be shown if they have tutoring available for your course.
    • This page is informational only. Please call your campus Learning Center for more details. Disregard the estimated wait.
    • Check-in for in-person tutoring is only available on campus.
