Forwarding Calls From Your Cisco Phone

Summary

This article describes the steps to forward calls from your Cisco phone so you can answer calls at a different number when you are away from your desk.

Body

You can forward calls from any line on your phone to another number, which is useful when you are away from your desk phone for an extended period.

Note: Do not confuse call forwarding with transferring a call, with which you send an active call to be handled by another person. For steps to do that, see the Transferring a Call on Your Cisco Phone knowledge base article.

You have three forwarding options:

  • Forward all, which forwards every incoming call.
  • Forward busy, which forwards calls coming to a line in use.
  • Forward no answer, which forwards calls instead of going to voicemail.

Call forwarding is phone-line specific, so if a call reaches you on a line where call forwarding is not enabled, the call rings as usual.

Steps to Take

  1. When the line to be forwarded is inactive, press ForwardUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Use the navigation pad to scroll up or down and select the appropriate option, and then follow the steps for that option below.

Forward all or Forward busy

  1. Use the navigation pad center circle to toggle between Off and On for Forward all or Forward busy.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. Enter the call forward target number exactly as you would dial it from your phone.
    2. Select an entry from your recent calls list.
  3. Press Set.

Forward no answer

  1. Use the navigation pad center circle to toggle Forward no answer between Off and On.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. Enter the call forward target number exactly as you would dial it from your phone.
    2. Select an entry from your recent calls list.
  3. Enter the number of rings before the call is forwarded.
  4. Press Set.

When a line is forwarded, the line shows the Forward All icon.
