Introduction

Job storage is the capability of a printer to store a print job (document) on the printer’s hard drive or in its memory. Job storage allows a print job to be stored and printed at your convenience. Job storage also has features for making a print job a personal job with a personal identification number (PIN).

Accessing and Configuring the Job Storage Feature

To access the job storage features, open the printer Properties and then select Printing Preferences. Select the Job Storage tab.

Sending a Print Job with a PIN One Time

Initiate Printing

  1. Select Print or press Ctrl + P. The Print window opens.
  2. Follow the appropriate steps for the environment you’re printing from, application or web browser:
    • Application
      1. Select Printer Properties.
      2. Select the Job Storage tab, and then proceed to Configure Job Storage.
    • Web Browser
      1. If you’re using Chrome, select More settings. If you’re using a different browser, skip this step.
      2. Scroll down until you can select Print using system dialog.
      3. In the system dialog, select Preferences.
      4. In the Preferences window, select the Job Storage tab, and then proceed to Configure Job Storage.

Configure Job Storage

  1. In the Job Storage Mode box, select Personal Job.
  2. In the Make Job Private/Secure box, select the drop down menu and select Pin to Print.
  3. Enter a four-digit PIN you can remember. Later, you must enter this PIN at the printer to release the print job.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Select Print. A window opens and displays which printer your job will be stored on, and what Username will be displayed on the MFP. See Releasing Your Job from the Printer below.

Configuring Your Print Driver to Use a PIN Every Time

Use these steps if you want to submit your job to the printer as a personal job with a PIN every time you print to the selected printer. If you do this, it will not print the job until you go to the printer and release the job using the PIN you defined.

  1. From the Start Menu, open Control Panel.
  2. On the Control Panel, select Devices and Printers.
  3. Find the printer you want to configure for PIN printing, right-click it, and select Printer Properties.
  4. Near the bottom of the Properties window, select Preferences.
  5. Select the Job Storage tab.
  6. In the Job Storage Mode box, select Personal Job.
  7. In the Make Job Private/Secure box, select the drop down menu and select Pin to Print.
  8. Enter a four-digit PIN you can remember. Later, you must enter this PIN at the printer to release the print job. See Releasing Your Job from the Printer below.
  9. Select OK.

Releasing Your Job from the Printer

  1. On the control panel of the printer, select Retrieve from Device Memory.
  2. Select the folder listed with your username.
  3. Select the job you want to print.
  4. Select Retrieve from Device Memory at the top of the control panel.
  5. Enter your PIN on the keypad (This is the PIN you supplied when you printed the job).
  6. Select OK. Your job should start printing. After the job prints it is erased from the hard drive and is no longer displayed on the control panel.
