Known Issue: Windows S-mode Software Installation

Details

Pima Community College has identified a known issue affecting students and instructors using personal Windows devices operating in S-mode. Software commonly used in PCC classes, such as test proctoring tools and instructor-linked applications, cannot be installed while in S-mode.

Solution

Requirements

  • Administrative access to the device.

Procedure

  • To install PCC-required software, it is necessary to switch out of S-mode. Exiting S-mode allows for greater software compatibility but cannot be reversed.
  • For instructions on how to exit S-mode, refer to the official Microsoft Support guide: Switching Out of S-Mode in Windows.
